Hurry, hurry
Step, step, step
Two-form structures
Where one might fall.
Pairs and poses
Look, light, quick.
Catch her,
No time,
The one who matches.
Hold her,
Quick, quick
Light, light
Catch her
Pull her
Tug her
The one to lean on
Or she’s gone.

This is from the second night that I participated in “Phrasings”, a performance of poetry and dance. I was one of the improvisation poets: Dancers were given music they had not heard before and then three of us watched and wrote poems inspired by their dance. We then had seven minutes offstage to polish our poems before they were typed into a computer and projected on a big screen for the audience.
